The Green Academy

Green Academy Aarhus is the result of a merger in 2008 between two schools within the green area, namely Vejlby Agricultural and DCJ (Danish Centre for Agricultural Education). DCJ was also created through a merger between Prompts Gartner School and Malling Agricultural College in 1999.

Green Academy Aarhus (GA) offers a broad range of educations within the green vocations (agriculture, horticulture, forestry, floristry, gardening, equine and environment) at ISCED-levels 3, 4 and 5. The annual student intake is aprx. 700-750 measured in full-time study equivalents. Some 50% of the students are VET-students 16 to 19 years of age in basic or main programmes at ISCED-level 3. Teaching is conducted at 4 different locations around Aarhus. The academy offers modern and up-to-date teaching facilities in terms of class rooms, IT, etc. Further, nursery gardens, green houses and a college farm is offered for practical training.

GA employs app. 180 staff, half of them qualified lecturers graduated from universities or vocational colleges. Knowledge on youth and adult pedagogy, didactics and training methods is considered a must for GA lecturers. Permanent teaching staff are expected to start pedagogical in-service training within 2 years after their appointment.
